New graduate research intern, Barbra Marden to work on issues of food, energy water security and smart resilient communities

We are excited to announce a new graduate research intern joining the Institute for Environmental Diplomacy and Security, Barbra Marden.

Here is her short bio:

I was born and raised in Uganda before moving to Italy. In 2001, I moved to the US to attend Northeastern University where I obtained an Associate Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS). I moved to Vermont in 2003 to attend the University of Vermont and graduated in 2005 with a BS in Business Administration and a concentration in MIS. I started interning at Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc., an international company that makes Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software, while at UVM, and still work there today. While at Allscripts, I have served in both engineering and managerial roles. Through my work at Allscripts, I became interested in public health administration, government regulation and community development particularly in relation to developing countries so enrolled in the Masters of Public Administration (MPA) Program at the University of Vermont. While in the resilient community’s class, I conducted research on the Bududa community located in the (Eastern Region of the Uganda) where I performed an analysis on the key issues and drivers affecting the Water Energy Food Nexus (WEF) framework and the community’s resilience to mudslides. Currently I am a third year master’s candidate.
